School Day

Student Drop-off

Unless students are attending a scheduled activity such as band, chorus, etc., they should not arrive at school prior to 8:30 a.m., nor remain after school has been dismissed. School officially begins at 8:50 a.m. Students arriving after 8:50 a.m. are considered late and should report to the office and must be accompanied by the parent/guardian. Parents must furnish a signed note explaining the lateness. A pattern of lateness will be shared with the District’s Attendance Officer.

Liability provisions prohibit parents “dropping-off” children before the announced 8:30 a.m. time. Student drop off is at the edge of our playground, entering the William Street entrance and exiting out heading towards Mary Street. Please have your child ready to exit your car quickly so he/she can go to the playground or enter the building. Students entering from 8:40 until 8:50 will go directly to their classrooms.

Student Pick-up

Children are dismissed from the office area at all times during the school day. Parents and guardians are not allowed to go directly to classrooms or walk the hallways. At dismissal time, the bus lane (Leonard Lane) is closed to cars from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00p.m. It is highly encouraged for students to ride their assigned bus. We use a dismissal app called PickUp Patrol. A welcome email that has a link to the app and explains how to use it will be sent to you prior to the first day of school. Once you receive the welcome email, please enter your child(ren)’s default dismissal plan right away. The default dismissal plan is how your child(ren) will be going home each day. The app can also be used to make changes in dismissal including early dismissals on any given day. All changes must be entered by 2:30 PM each day. (Cutoff times for entering changes will differ on early dismissal days).

VALET SERVICE: Please do not arrive before 3:30 PM and stay in your car. There are two valet lines based on a student’s last name. All students with a last name of A through L will be picked up at Cafeteria door 13 in the back of the school. All students with a last name of M through Z will be picked up at the big gym. This carline runs parallel to the school off of Pennsylvania Avenue. For each carline, students will be checked off and escorted to your car by a staff person.

WALKERS: Students walking home alone and living north of PA Avenue or have an odd street # on PA Ave. will be dismissed from the kindergarten playground door. Students walking home alone and living south of PA Avenue or have an even street # on PA Ave. will be dismissed from the door located between our gym and art room. No matter what your child’s last name is nor where you reside, if your child is to be escorted home by a parent, you need to select “Parent Pickup Adult Escorted- not carline” and come to the gym vestibule to have them checked off a list before you walk them home.
